About Mark

 Photography for me is about finding good compositions and returning numerous times, hoping for good conditions to capture something beautiful. It requires perseverance, patience and dedication.  Photography is usually about telling my body what it is going to do, rather than asking how I feel about doing it. Many times it means heading out very last minute (due to a promising forecast), driving through the night and arriving at a trailhead.  Hiking up a mountain in the dark with a headlamp, hoping not to come across any dangerous wildlife, all in hopes of capturing an epic sunrise with a cloud inversion or fog and a majestic vista.  When conditions come together and the "magic" happens, a nice scene can turn into a truly amazing experience. My goal is to capture those beautiful moments and share them with others. I am thankful because photography has given me the motivation to seek out some of the most amazing places in the world, that I may not have ever seen, had it not been for photography. Living in the Pacific Northwest, provides opportunities to go to some of the most beautiful places in our country, and when I have the opportunity, I enjoy traveling to other locations. There is a thrill about seeking out places of extreme beauty, anticipating good weather conditions, all with the hope of capturing a truly beautiful image that can be enjoyed as a work of art.
